Zoom: While I hope we won't need it beyond opening week, please visit the Zoom website and create an account using your Whitman email address. Using your Whitman address will automatically connect you to the Whitman institutional Zoom group which can make life easier in some cases.
-
Geogebra/Sage: We will use two different pieces of free mathematics software this semester for calculation and visualization:
- Geogebra is a powerful, free, on-line graphics system that allows you to plot and animate both two- and three-dimensional objects. Visit Geogebra and create an account there.
-
Sage is another powerful, free, on-line mathematics platform that allows you to do symbolic integration and differentiation, to solve equations, and to visualize results. Whitman runs its own CoCalc server where one can access Sage. Please visit Whitman's CoCalc server and create an account there, use this "secret token" 95PNa6nBUZ6nrw19.

Canvas Profile: Please take a minute to update your Canvas profile information including a picture or avatar of yourself. You will be participating in numerous discussion forums throughout the course and having a picture along with the post helps build a sense of connection and community (which is so important in an online course).
For more information about your profile, read this Canvas Guide about updating your profile.
-
Canvas App: The Canvas phone app is worth installing. For more information, read one of these: iPhone, Android.
- Adobe Scan App: Your hand-written work will be submitted to Canvas as a pdf. You will use a phone app called Adobe Scan to snap photos of each page of your work, convert the pages to a single pdf, and upload the result to Canvas. Take a moment to install Adobe Scan on your phone.
